Summary
Erica Chenoweth’s Harvard-based dataset on nonviolent and violent campaigns and their outcomes — the canonical quantitative source on civil resistance.
Body
The NAVCO Data Project (Harvard / Denver) is the canonical quantitative resource on nonviolent campaigns. It codes each campaign on a long list of variables — type, participants, geography, target, tactics, outcome — and publishes descriptive and inferential findings. The best-known result is the 3.5%-of-population threshold (see three-and-a-half-percent-rule): in the dataset, no campaign that failed to mobilise at least ~3.5% of the population in active participation succeeded. Treat as link-only. [source: navco]
